Islamic Relief: Empowering Resilience Amidst Adversity

In the heart of Herat province, at the BHC-Faiz Abad Clinic, Golnar*, a 45-year-old mother of six, found solace amidst unimaginable challenges. Her story, intertwined with tragedy and resilience, reflects the transformative impact of Islamic Relief’s humanitarian efforts.

A Journey Through Trauma

Golnar’s life was altered in a way she never imagined possible, when she found herself involved in the war in Afghanistan in the middle of a bitter winter. A rocket attack claiming her house left her and a third child wounded to the point of death , but with her unborn baby. Golnar and her family left for Herat province, where they were engulfed in another series of problems with the difficulty of resettling after their fall of home into the hands of disturbance of war.

A New Beginning

While familiarizing in Fayezabar village, Golnar was overpowered by many hurdles she had to encounter like integrating and becoming a member of the community, introducing permanent care for her son Zalmo who has a cerebral palsy in need of 24/7 care. Being overburdened with her physical symptoms and fighting gradually deteriorating mental disorders such as Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) and Post-Traumatic Disorder (PTSD), Golnar found not only herself in want for help but also in need of advice.

A Beacon of Hope: Islamic Relief’ Humanitarian Role

The clinic BHC-Faiz Abad alongside with its staff and doctor, was a sanctuary for Golnar. As for her journey of healing and mending of her broken state, it was through Islamic Relief’s psychosocial services that she embarked on it. Through-the-covering human-based counselling sessions gave Golnar a place where she had opportunity to figure out the matter, to battle with the past and to restore her resilience.

The Road to Recovery

Counselling services for Experiencing Islamic Relief Houstion could have been very helpful. They have been by Islamic Relief’s counselling. Who eventually gave her the strength and purpose that she has once lost. Participating in therapy regular sessions became the means for her to reach the source of the problem of the unfavorable. Past memories and to take hold of a new feeling of hope. Confidence rejuvenated, a new Golnar was born – weaving wool was her goal, as a plan B helped her family prosper.

A Testament to Impact

Such a model project as an AHF programe by Islamic Relief, which is UNOCHA’s donor. Brought about true change to Golnar and many others’ lives. Similarly, by the end of the year, we attended to 29,600 individuals. With essential health and counselling services not only protecting their voice against discrimination. But also alleviating the challenges they face every day. “Islamic Relief and UNOCHA united to save lives” was the observation.

A Grateful Tribute

Golnar’s pilgrimage is a showpiece for out that the compassion. Resilience are two qualities that can never fail to transform a person. Her words of gratitude resonates in my mind the immense significance given to their programming as well. Through her own efforts to do the same, Golnar carries the symbolic meaning of resistance. Along with the help but never as away from an Islamic Relief and the global humanitarian community.
In fact, the story of Golnar mark the story of thriving hope and resilience amid sharks of adversities. Which is fueled by the charitable work of Islamic Relief and collective will to overcome. The hardships and build for a happier tomorrow.
