The doctors of the gynaecology ward at Jinnah Hospital took a stand against their Head of Department (HoD), Dr Nasreen Fatima, for her alleged unethical behaviour. Carrying placards and banners, the protesters gathered in front of the hospital’s administrative office to voice their grievances.
Slogans Against Unfair Treatment:
The protesters were heard demanding that the Doctor should have a better way of communicating with the junior doctors by condemning her actions of shouting and disorganizing the hospital. By announcing cases where women doctors were not allowed inside the ward and then locked within a room as a punishment, she made the situation even worse.
Demand for Action:
The protesting doctor men struggled to get the heads of the hospital authorities banged in front of them with the outrageous attitude of Dr. Nasreen Fatima. They laid particular emphasis on the fact that there is no time to lose if one wants the issue to be resolved promptly and, most importantly, in a way that doesn’t compromise the dignity and respect of all staffers.
Threat of Boycott:
With that, the demonstrating doctors issued a warning by stating that, if no move was made to deal with the situation, they would refuse to do the OPD and emergency shift. They drew attention to the fact that most of the people in their department had been forced to look for replacements because of the unfair treatment by the Head of Department in the past.
Call for Accountability:
The doctors recommend that the hospital authority pursue redress actions toward Dr. Nasreen Fatima, and in particular, the practice of submitting such behaviour should, of course, be punishable by the authority. Therefore, they called upon the hospital authorities to engage in remedial actions and speed up the change process to eliminate the concerns raised by the demonstrating doctors.
Conclusion:
The Jinnah Hospital protest signals the significance of the code of conduct adherence along with a demonstration of respect in the health care setup. In a way, it shows hospitals are notified of similar cases, and they must respond swiftly to allegations of misconduct by their personnel, upholding the professionalism and integrity of health care practice.
